You are alienating me because you’re not speaking in English.
Said to me by a U.S. born acquaintance after a friend and I were having a personal conversion in our native language.

It actually is kind of alienating. When people speak to eachother in a language you don’t understand in your presence they are excluding you and you feel a bit hurt. I can speak Spanish, but I wouldn’t speak Spanish to my brother in the presence of non-Spanish-speaking friends.
